Record Award Of Damages

Wolferstans have recently achieved two record awards of damages.

Simon Parford acted for a young man who has severe cerebral palsy as a result of negligent medical treatment at the time of his birth. The claim was settled for the sum of £5,705,000 which is believed to be the highest award of damages ever recovered for a young adult with cerebal palsy.

Simon says: “My client's parents are absolutely delighted with the terms of settlement. This was a very difficult case to prove and I am very pleased that such a substantial award of damages has been recovered which will provide financial security and lifetime benefits for my client and his family.”

Samantha Buckthought also recently achieved what is probably the largest sum of damages ever recovered for an elderly patient. The patient who was 80 years old when the medical accident occurred and 84 years old when her case settled, received an award of damages of £600,000.

Samantha says: “It is all too easy to assume that an elderly patient is not entitled to a large award for compensation but every case has to be judged and valued on its own facts and it is important that every client receives the appropriate amount of damages to meet their future needs.”
