A recent example involved an airline pilot who was involved in a road traffic accident as a result of which she suffered brain injury. Over a protracted period she was able to recover to a significant extent but will never be able to return to her former employment. Liability was admitted early on. Interim payments were obtained and shortly before Trial the case settled in October 2006 for £1.5 million.
