Noise Induced Industrial Deafness

It has been known for many years going back into the last century that heavy industrial noise may cause deafness.

Deafness is a progressive condition and individuals may not notice for some years that their hearing has been affected. It is necessary for a Doctor to ascertain what is the likely proportion of a person's hearing loss caused by age and what is caused by exposure to industrial noise.

It is generally accepted that employers should have known of the dangers of exposing employees to excessive noise by 1963 and any exposure following this period will be considered negligent. Again, this is a complex area of law and anybody seeking to bring a claim for industrial deafness is advised to contact a Specialist Industrial Disease Solicitor such as a member of our team. This should be done as quickly as possible as there are time limits for bringing actions in this type of claim.
